"Repping"- an abbreviation for representing
represent- rep·re·sent/ˌreprəˈzent/. verb.
"be entitled to or appointed to act or speak for (someone), especially in an official capacity."
What do you rep? Is it your favorite sports team logo, a brand, a school, a business, a demographic?
We are all pretty quick to show some passion when we disagree with someone's sports team or political party affiliation or anything else that they might associate themselves with that we could disagree with.
Why do we not bring that same passion to our spiritual lives?
If we can outwardly show who our favorite team is, then why can't we show Jesus to others?
If we can tell people how well they played in a game, why can't we tell our pastors "good sermon today."?
If we can get excited about a game, why can't we get excited about God's word?
If we can rearrange schedules to see our besties, why can't we find time to tune into a church service?
We should be first ready to represent the One who created us. We should be happy to represent who we are.
Who are we? - a son or daughter of the King.
"And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." -2 Corinthians 6:18
You are royalty. You have an inheritance. This isn't because of what we look like, or what we can do, but because of the change that happens when step into who we are called to be. We are called to be ambassadors of Christ.
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." -2 Corinthians 5:20
If you can get yourself to believe that you are a son/daughter of the Creator and walk in that, you won't be able to not share it. There is power in knowing who you are and who you are serving. We are serving a God who is worthy. He is resolute. He is benevolent. He is unequalled. & He knows your name. He is more than we can ever imagine and we are His sons/daughters. That's powerful.
God is more worthy of your representation than anything else. Serve Him above all else.
There is nothing wrong with having a passion or a favorite team or brand or whatever it may be, but make sure people first know you as a Christian.
Remember you are an ambassador of the Kingdom. Act like that. Step up and step out. Remember what you do and how you carry yourself matters because we are doing it ALL for the glory of God. People are watching, whether you realize it or not- make sure your reputation is one that is pleasing to the Lord.
1 Corinthians 10:31- "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."(ESV)
1 Thessalonians 5:22- "Abstain from every form of evil." (ESV)
Romans 12:1- "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." (KJV)
1 Timothy 4:15- "Practice and work hard on these things; be absorbed in them [completely occupied in your ministry], so that your progress will be evident to all." (AMP)
