Jesus is Life

While watching a TV show a few days ago, one character said “_____ is life.” I do not remember exactly what was in the blank but at first, I giggled because it made me think of a time when sports players would wear shirts that said “ball is life” or “soccer is life” or whatever sport it may be. Then, it evolved into whatever hobby or obsession that someone had went in that blank. There were t-shirts, memes, social media bios, signs, all sorts of things that would have ____ is life.

That got me thinking, about how dangerous that thought process is. We get so caught up in school is life. Work is life. Friendship is life. Exercise is life. Money is life. Whatever is life. And that is just not true and leads to a bunch of disappointment. The only appropriate thing in that blank is Jesus is life.

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”- John 14:6

He is the only thing that sustains, the only giver and keeper of life. He should be our obsession. Our motto. Our bios, our signs, our phrases, our central focus, our life, should be a complete dedication to Him alone.

Life is disappointing.

Life is hard.

Life is sickness.

Life is costly.

Life is short.

Life is unfair.

Life is unruly.

Life is ugly.

Life is…nothing without the presence of a promise of a Savior.

Replace that “life is” statement with a “Jesus is” statement and watch your blessings grow and perspectives look a bit better today.

Jesus is joy.

Jesus is peace.

Jesus is kind.

Jesus is caring. Jesus is stable.

Jesus is Lord.

Jesus is forever.

Jesus is the payment for all sin.

Jesus is just.

Jesus is alive.

Jesus is righteous.

Jesus is in control.

Jesus is beauty.

Jesus is perfect.

Jesus is life.
