Where to Place Your Trust

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time.

How do you solve a crisis?

One prayer at a time.

How do we know this works?

Trust.

Where your trust goes can change your journey to your outcome. If you put your trust in people, you will always be disappointed. If you put your trust in God, you will always be cared for and never disappointed. The world is so messed up, but Jesus is not. People will always fail you. The things you thought this world would provide that are dependable, are not.

His ways are higher than ours. (Isaiah 55:9)

Trust in His presence.

Trust in His promises.

Trust He is working all things together for your good.

"Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me." - John 14:1

Don't be upset about the situation you're in; put your trust in Him. Being upset and throwing a massive temper tantrum never really makes the root of the problem go away. God didn't place you in this situation to be worried. Troubling times are the most important times for praise and clinging to the trust we have put in Jesus.

This is all temporary; Jesus is not.

Not only does Jesus tell us the way; He shows us the way.

If you trust Him and strive to live the way Christ lived, you will never feel bad about where you are in life. You might feel bad when you mess it up, because at some point you will, we are human but you shouldn't wake up saying "today is going to be terrible because the world is broken and I'm human so I will probably sin today." You should wake up saying

" thank you, God, for another opportunity today to try to be more Christ-like so people will see me and want to know you." In those moments when you ask yourself WWJD, and you respond correctly, you will always feel good about it because what you did was right.

Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that there is a time for everything. He has set eternity in your heart, yet we can't comprehend all that He has done, is doing, and is going to do. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) In fact, in verse 13 it says we should delight in our toil because this is a gift from God. This should remind us that He endureth forever and nothing can add to or take away from His greatness.

Nothing can add to or take away from His greatness...

His ways are already the best way. He is unchanging. How more dependable does it get?

He is trustworthy. (Remember this when you're feeling beat down.)

The way to battle your way out of a crisis is to let God battle it.

I'm not saying that you should just sit around expecting God to do all the leg work. It is going to be uncomfortable at some point. Trust is hard. Giving it all over is hard. Trusting takes practice. Pray your way through it. Pray for progress, one prayer at a time. One foot in front of the other but then take the leap of faith. Don't harbor a little piece of your life to keep for yourself. He is God; He already saw this coming and knows what is happening next. He can be trusted with it all.

Trusting means surrender.
