Where's the plug in?

We live in an age where everything is documented. We can have all family memories recorded through media and then shared with the entire world in seconds. There’s not much we can’t “Google” to find the answer to, or something we can’t buy on “Amazon.” However, these things are not what should be bringing us joy. In fact, in most cases these media outlets lead to panic, depression, comparison, confusion, envy, and hate. All the wrong things are exploited through our world’s media. This should not be a surprise to the Christian. We know the condition of the world and the people who live in it.
We, as Christians should not be “plugged in” to Netflix, CNN, FOX News, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, whatever for our “news”. The best news in the world is in your Bible. What is to come? Oh, that’s already been written in the Bible. What should we expect? Where does sickness come from? Why are people depressed, oppressed, and every other pressed? It’s all in there. Everything we need to know about our lives and what is to come is right in our hands. It’s the most translated text in the world. It’s a best seller! I listened to a preacher one time use this acronym for the Bible:
"B asic
I nstructions
B efore
L eaving
E arth "
If we can study it, learn from it, and spread this good news as quickly as we can share memes and our pool selfies on the internet, imagine what kind of work we would be doing for God’s kingdom. However, we fill our lives with junk instead. We know absence from the Word leads to a poor connection of the Spirit. We know if we are not reading our Bibles, we are not learning effectively. If we neglect this teaching time, we are not remaining in Him. We are not hiding scripture in our hearts. (Psalm 119:11) We are not pruning our vines. (John 15:1-8) We are not connected to the source of nutrients to grow. We are not being fruitful. And how will they know us? By our fruit. (Matthew 7:16)
If we wish to be credible and effective ambassadors for the kingdom of God, we need to disconnect from the flesh, and reconnect in the Spirit. We need to disconnect to reconnect. We can not be used to our full potential as the hands and feet of God if we are not living in direct and total connection to Him.
Where are you connected?
Where’s your plug in?
Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
John 15:1-8 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
Matthew 17:16 “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?”
