What's your worth?

This week, I asked some friends, "what's your worth?" and then I asked "what am I worth?"

I got a variety of answers, ranging from:

"I would say you're a quarter, strong mighty",

"I'd say a $500 bill because I know they exist but are very rare", to

"we are worth nothing but also everything."

Some of these answers were silly and did make me laugh but really I was curious to see how people compared themselves to someone they considered a friend. More often than not, we value others more than we value ourselves. Why is that?

You see, you were chosen.

"For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified." - Romans 8:29-30

"But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.'"- Isaiah 43:1

"But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased" - Galatians 1:15

You are known.

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." - Jeremiah 1:5

"I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'" - Isaiah 46:10

He has a plan. (Jeremiah 29:11)

He goes before you. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

He desires a relationship with you. (Leviticus 26:12)

He came as flesh and died for you. (John 10:10)

Do you feel like you are worth something yet?

God created man in His image. He made the whole world, by speaking it into existence (mind blowing, I know) but then He took time to sculpt us with His hands. He breathed life into us. He did that. HE MADE US. WE ARE SO SPECIAL TO HIM.

Do you ever just stop and think "wow, a lot of things happened for me to get here today."?

The Earth is spinning just fast enough, we have just the right gases in the air we breathe, we have all these amazing parts in our bodies always working to keep us functioning. We are made in His image. We are love.

God is independent without us. The earth could gone on without us, but God wanted us. He wanted you, chose you, has a plan for you or you wouldn't be here. If you are alive today, it is because God's will for your life is not fulfilled. When we let Him down so big, He still gave us an out because He loves you! He desires for us to humble ourselves (Psalm 51:17) and rely on Him.

If you were really worth nothing, would He have gone through all of this to bring you here today?

Would He still be providing for you, waiting for you, forgiving you, loving you?

So many things have been done to show us our worth. So much more than what I have listed today. So, view yourself through the eyes of the Father today. You are worth so much to Him. No matter where you are today, He is still loving you. ("I loved you at your darkest." Romans 5:8) You are precious. (Proverbs 3:15) You are worth something. You were worth Jesus coming so humbly to the earth to be ridiculed and condemned so you could be accepted and forgiven. (John 3:16)

You are so loved.

All you have to do is choose to believe it.

You are so beautiful.

All you have to do is choose to see it.

You are the 1 sheep He is willing to leave the 99 for. (Matthew 18)

All you have to do is choose to receive it.
