Vulnerability

Being vulnerable is not something most people are keen on, but it is so important! In relationships, it's important for us to say "hey this is on my heart today". You may be hurting while you read this. You may be joyful as you read this.

I don't know where you are in your life or how you feel about it but know that you aren't alone.

It's okay to be upset. It's okay to have those parts of your heart that aren't feeling completely confident or happy about something.

It's not okay to expect those things to fix themselves.

I think that if you want people to trust you, you have to show them they can.

Unless you're like me and don't have a problem telling the woman at the student service desk everything that isn't working out in your life, you're going to need to find someone you know, and trust and talk it out. Share in your experiences. I bet that the person who you choose to talk to has felt the exact same way. There's nothing to be ashamed of.

Take a deep breath because this next thing might be something you really need to wrap your brain around....

A mutually beneficial relationship can not exist if only one person is sharing their heart. You cannot continue to pour effort into a relationship with another human that isn't willing to give some effort back.

Process that thought. Practice it. It's hard to understand.

You can't always be the one rejoicing. It's important to share those vulnerable moments. Life is hard. The world is broken. Not every minute of every day is going to be good. There will be sickness, death, disappointment, sadness, anxiety, insomnia, fear, depression, etc.

There will be plenty of nastiness.

The world will always disappoint you.

Don't be overwhelmed. Jesus is a trusting friend- He never disappoints.

Don't carry that burden alone. It's okay to be vulnerable. Transparency is so important. It shows our authenticity.

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of righteous person has great power as it is working." - James 5:16

Share your heart with someone today. Tell them how you feel today, not how you felt a year ago. How do you feel in this moment? What's on your heart? What disappointments are you harboring? What joy, if any, do you feel? Connect with someone.
