Thanksgiving is a time for prayer and giving of thanks. Thanksgiving should not be observed and practiced for just one day a year, but continually in our lives. Gratefulness and gratitude can change your life. If we live in constant thanksgiving just as 1 Thessalonians 5:18* tells us to, we are being obedient to His will for our lives.
When we choose to be thankful, we are not critical, envious or distraught; we become loving and caring. When you appreciate where you are and not focus on where you have been, or look toward where you are going to be tomorrow, happiness begins. Being mindful of what God has brought you through is good, but the past is done and over with. Breathe in the now. Allow yourself a minute to take in this exact moment because you'll never live it again. We will never live today ever again. Whether we choose to thank God for today or be critical of it, determines how we feel about everything else in our lives.
If you're on the mountaintop, you shouldn't have any trouble giving praise and being thankful. Do not forget that you need God just as much today as you do when you're in the valley.
If you're in the valley, the mountain is coming. Focus on every detail of your being.
You're alive. You're breathing. You're not alone. Your body is able, your heart is beating, you have clean air in your lungs, God knew what kind of air you needed to have on this Earth to be sustained. You have eyes to read this. You have a device to read it on, some kind of service provider to access this text. You are able to comprehend what you are reading. The list goes on and on.
You are living in the age everyone before you strived to have and worked for.
When you are grateful, you're practicing and preparing for the obstacles ahead.
When things inevitably become shaky, you will be able find hope in a God who is unshakable.
"Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name. " - 2 Samuel 22:50
Have a safe & happy holiday!
