Standing on the Promises of God

Does anyone remember March? That time that feels a world away from where we are now. Well, in March, I was prepping for spring break, in the middle of midterms; I had developed a nice little routine for myself, and I was going to get some pizza. On my way to get the pizza, I put the address into the GPS to make sure I knew where I was going. Well, I got a little distracted by a rainbow that I saw and decided to chase the rainbow. The closer I got to the rainbow, the bigger it seemed and the more pretty it seemed and then I discovered it was a double rainbow- even better than I originally thought.

After chasing this rainbow for a ways, I remembered I was on my way to get pizza and was not at all where I should be, according to the GPS. However, after a few more turns, I saw the pizza place in the distance and my time of arrival was actually sooner than what the GPS had originally said.

Okay, Claire. You got pizza, saw a rainbow, sounds like a good day, what's the point?

Well, I'm glad you asked.

God revealed something to me through this and it was so good that I recorded myself telling the story that day, which I will include. (please ignore my post-gym hair and the terrible angle of the video and instead tap into the joy I'm feeling in the video. go with me.)

I realized that as I was chasing this rainbow, I was not leaning on my own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) I was standing on a promise of God. Remember, the rainbow is the covenant God made with Noah to never flood the earth again. (Genesis 9:8-17)

When I decided to put my flesh desires on hold (getting my pizza), and instead followed a promise of God (the rainbow), I was lead into where I needed to be much sooner than I would've if I had relied on something of the world (the GPS).

God is the only GPS we need to navigate this world. He is always right on time. We may feel a little lost along the way, but God is faithful. When we are fully engaged in what He is offering, we will be truly blessed and most generally, we end up getting more of a blessing than we ever thought we would to begin with. The world is always going to tell you to "make a U-turn at the next available spot", but take heart, keep after what God has promised. Where you are may look a lot different than where everyone else around you may be, but that's okay. It's okay to feel a little lost because we are not trusting in our own flesh to get us there and you're going to end up where you're supposed to be exactly when you're supposed to be there. The easiest route is not always the best route, and usually, that takes us through some places we didn't want to be. ( I hope you're reading this spiritually and you're picking up what I'm putting down.) The complicated, uneasy way I had made it to Domino's that day is not a way I could probably ever recreate. It wasn't the easy route, but it was the best route.

I learned quite a few good things from my little trip to get a pizza that one Tuesday afternoon and I hope you did too. God is the only director I need. He is provider. He is deliverer. He is a promise keeper. He is faithful. He is Creator. He is lovely. He is caring. He took the time to speak to me that day in a way I never would've expected Him to and I'm glad He did.
