I got a text from my friend Maddie this week that said “How to pray big in a tiny church. I think someone should do something with that.” I thought that was an interesting little thing she had said there so I offered to be the one to do something with it. She had been talking to a coworker about church and asked the coworker to pray big for something. The lady said “my church is tiny.” And Maddie said “pray big in the tiny church.”

Pray big in the tiny church.

Pray big in every church.

Pray big when you aren’t in church.

Pray big because you are the church.

To pray big, you need to know how to pray.

· Ask according to His will

· ask in Jesus’ name

· speak it, believe it, receive it

· expect your blessings to come

“ And my God will meet your all needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

-Philippians 4:19

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8

“Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” – John 14:13-14

“Whatever you do, in word or deed do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him.” -Colossians 3:17

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in very good work.” – 2 Corinthians 9:8

Praises give us confidence to pray. Keep praising, keep praying. It is because of what we have already seen Him do that we have the confidence to continue to ask things of Him. Share your blessings with someone today. It is encouraging.

We call out to dry bones…(Ezekiel 37)

If you ask according to His will, you are in right fellowship, and you are actively expecting an answer, then you don’t have to fear about it not happening in time. His timing is better than ours, even if He feels a few days, weeks or years late. You have nothing to be embarrassed or scared of because He is the one working the miracles. He’s the one who has already prepared the way. You have the easiest part, waiting. It sure doesn’t feel like the easiest part but if it doesn’t happen in the time or way you thought it would, you know that His ways are higher than yours. What do you have to lose? If you are asking for something to be resolved, chances are it isn’t something you can fix on your own, right? So, you are already in the tough spot. Things can only get better from here. Expect big things, pray big things, big things will happen. God is still listening and still in the miracle working business.

So, all of this was to say, you don't need the building, which is a good thing considering none of us can really go anywhere at the moment. You just need you and God. Prayer is not limited to a building. It is not limited to a time frame or circumstance. It is always open and available and powerful and beautiful and so important. We are the church. He is our God, He is big, so our prayers should be too, no matter how tiny our church is.
