Time Well Spent

Honestly, I didn't want to write today.

I wondered how people would respond if for the second week in a row, I didn't post anything. Would anyone notice? Would anyone care? Would it be worth investing time? If someone said something or asked, how would I respond?

I would respond I've been busy.

I didn't have the time.

I had other things come up.

I just didn't feel like it.

Or maybe, if I was feeling really pressed, even, "I do have a life, ya know."

Ouch. Yikes. Harsh.

Especially when the Holy Spirit then whispered "Not enough time to meditate on the Word of God? Not enough time to tell others of His goodness? Not enough time to find peace in the busy, but time for Netflix. Time for reading things that aren't the Bible. Time for Facebook. Time for texting. But not enough time for Jesus. What if His attitude would've been the same?"

Ouch. Yikes. Harsh, but true.

We will make time for the things that matter to us.

We will make time for things that are priority.

We will make time for whatever it is we worship.

OUCH.

Am I stepping on anyone else's toes? Nope? Just mine?

Okay, cool, let's continue anyway.

I do not believe for a second that God wants you to be so busy with the nonsense that you are overwhelmed. I do not believe He wants you to be overwhelmed by anything but His goodness. I do not believe that if you are truly serving Him, if you are only responding to His agenda, that you will feel anything less than blessed. Now, do not confuse blessed with easy.

But, Jesus made the time. Jesus was never pressed with an agenda. He came, He served, He died, He arose. He did all these things without sin. He didn't have to do any of it. He left Heaven for us. He left comfort for us. He made time.

When's the last time you made time for Him?

Been awhile?

If so, guess what? He's gracious. He is faithful and just to forgive. (1 John 1:9)

I'm not saying you have to write a post to make time. I'm not saying that every week I'm going to have a post. I'm not saying that doing things and having obligations or plans are bad, but get in the Word today. Any time spent in the Word of God is time well spent. I promise you won't regret it. Our first scheduled time should be an intentional time with God.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." -Matthew 6:33

"Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you." -Hosea 10:12

"Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!"- 1 Chronicles 16:11
