I am very upset.
I’m upset that people can’t understand how loved they are. I’m upset that Satan has twisted our idea of love. I’m upset that we can’t seem to live in the confidence of being chosen. We were fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
It’s upsetting for me to feel like we as a church- I don’t mean just the church I attend; I mean we as a body of believers because the church is the people, are being lukewarm. The Bible tells us that us being lukewarm is disgusting to God. He wants to spit us out of His mouth. (Revelation 3:16) We are living in a world that is ending. The end is near. Jesus will be coming back. There are still people who have never even heard the name of Jesus spoken. That boggles my mind. The one who has changed my life for the better, my Savior, my interceder, my comforter and there are people in this world who don’t even know His name. We must do better. We can’t just shrug off the people who don’t want to listen. We need to be on the mission field every day. That doesn’t mean we go out to the third world countries (but, yes, we need to serve there too) we need to be serving and ministering and witnessing to people at the coffee shop, Walmart, the gas station, your business. I’m not saying go out and beat them over the head with the Bible but let them know whose you are. You may be the only example of Christ they ever see. Your attitude could change their life. We as Christians are supposed to be Christ-like. Your smile, your kindness, compassion and concern for one another matters.
We need to love well. We can’t change the world in a day- only God can. But you can change the world for one person today. By showing them the love of Jesus.
But that’s awkward…
Well church, we are a peculiar people. (1 Peter 2:9) It is going to be awkward. But this is for love. We love when we aren’t supposed to and in the wrong things all the time. For once, do it for the right reason and let it be awkward. Spread the love because God first loved us. (1 John 4:19) We are being called to humility. We need to humble ourselves for the love of God to shine through to others. Jesus humbled Himself for you. He came to earth in the humblest of ways. Took the worst punishment with humility. He was spit on. He was beaten. He was made fun of. He was crucified. Just to save you. And we can’t even share the love we’ve been extended, to each other. WAKE UP. THE TIME FOR CHANGE IS NOW. TIME IS PASSING. Eternity makes all the difference. The time we are here is soooooo small compared to eternity, compared to the time God sees. How will you make it count? Who will you show love to today?
Love like Christ because someone’s life depends on it. (Ephesians 5:1-2)
